WILLIAMSTOWN GARDEN CLUB
MAY 8, 2018 GENERAL MEETING
1:00 P.M. – MILNE LIBRARY
A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: President Karen Pellegrini called the meeting to order at 1:04 pm. 40 members and guests were in attendance. The minutes from the April 10 meeting have been posted on the website and sent by email to all members.
B. WELCOME: Karen welcomed everyone to today’s program and particularly welcomed all guests. Hospitality committee members Betty Iannitelli and Jeanne Roy were thanked for the beautiful refreshments.
C. PRESIDENT’S REPORT: spring plant sale coming up on May 26, more plants and helpers are needed; please sign up today; more information is available from Elaine Neely or Maria Siskind. Spring planting date will be delayed by one week and will now occur the week after Memorial Day. Marilyn has the 2018 booklets; please get yours from Marilyn. New Garden Club projects are a revitalization of the Sally Tenney Osborne reading garden at the Milne, a limited presence at the Williamstown Farmer’s Market (approval pending); updating of all Garden Club literature; map of Garden Club containers and beds; improved Garden Club signage. The next club meeting is June 12, which is a tour of Adams historical homes and gardens led by member MJ Downing. The July meeting is a tour of the Berkshire Botanical Garden with sign ups required. The floor was given to Anne O’Connor to advertise an upcoming talk about enhancing meadows on May 16, 7 pm, Milne Library.
D. ACTIVITIES/SIGN-UP SHEETS: members were directed to the signup sheets in the back of the room and all members are asked to sign up for events throughout the year.
E. NEW BUSINESS: Maria Siskind introduced guest speaker and Master Gardener Larri Cochran who presented Creating a Pollinators’ Buffet. Questions were taken from the audience.
F. NEXT MEETING DATE: Tuesday, June 12, 11 am – 3 pm, Garden Tour and Picnic Lunch – Adams Historic gardens. The tour will begin and end at 6 East Street in Adams; members are asked to bring their own picnic lunches. Drinks and dessert will be provided.
G. ADJOURNMENT: The formal meeting was adjourned at 2:19 pm and refreshments enjoyed.
