The Williamstown Garden Club serves the Williamstown community through its mission of Civic Beautification. This work is visible each growing season as members work to plant and maintain flowers and plants at numerous locations throughout town.

General Membership Meeting                November 2, 2015

The meeting was held at Sweetwood and attended by about 20 members.  The business portion was called to order by President Sue Metzner at 1:10 pm.  There were no guests.

MINUTES:  The October 5 minutes were approved as posted on the web site.  Also on the web site is a summary of the proposed By-Law changes.

CIVIC BEAUTIFICATION:    Elaine Neely announced a general clean-up at Field Park on Thursday (November 5) at 1:30.   The message is extended to the entire membership.  Please bring clipper, gloves and a rake.  Cathy Yamamoto is moving to New Jersey, and Sue announced that new member Susan Puddester would now help with the Osborne Garden at the Milne Library. All bridge boxes and containers have been cleaned out and the containers have been picked up by Countryside to be stored over the winter at the cemetery.

CORRESPONDING SECRETARY:  Anne Tiffany shared a nice thank-you note from Sigrid McWilliams for a plant sent following her recent surgery.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Sue Metzner circulated information regarding up-coming  Massachusetts garden club and Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts activities, most of which are held in the Boston area.

Members are encouraged to attend the Holiday Greens Workshop scheduled for Monday, November 30, 1 – 2:30,  at the Harper Center.  The group will be making centerpieces for the Annual Meeting on Monday, December 7 at Coyote Flaco.  Extra help is needed to assist Harper Center participants making their personal greens arrangements.  Please bring clippers and scissors.

Notices will be sent shortly for the Annual Meeting to reserve and to designate menu selections.   Membership dues can also be paid at the meeting.

The business meeting adjourned at 1:25.

PROGRAM:  Program Chairman Bettye Craig introduced the speakers, Elaine DiGiovanni and Linda Ladd who presented an entertaining and enlightening flower arranging session on “Autumn Splendor.”  The program was followed by delicious seasonal refreshments.
