Minutes – Williamstown Garden Club Annual Meeting – Williams Inn, Dec. 13, 2016

The meeting was called to order by Dianne Glick, Co-President. Minutes from the 2015Annual Meeting, which are on the website, were approved. The changes to the club by-laws are also on the website.

Dianne thanked Claudia Ellet for making the arrangements: Carolyn Umlauf for the arrangements: Linda Conway for Galvin at the piano: and Eja Heekin for the beautiful display at the Holiday walk.

Treasurer Robin Clutz gave the financial report to date since our fiscal year is from June to June. At present income is $12,000. And expenses $9,500. We have $30,000 available for club activities.

Kathy McKnight reported that she has garden club shirts, and can order more if members let her know.

Elaine Neely reported on Field Park. Despite the dedicated group that has worked on the garden this year, it is a struggle to find enough help. We discussed the possibility of paying someone to do both fall and spring cleanup. We also discussed changing work times to attract more help. She mentioned the Water Street bridge for re-planting, but we will need more committed members before we take that project on.

Marilyn Faulkner reported that we have 3 new members, and there was interest at the Penny Social, Holiday Walk.

Linda Conway, Claudia Ellet and Anne Tiffany from the Program Committee reported that the Field trip to Naumkeag was very successful. About 20 members participated.

The membership agreed to award Honorary Membership to Rita Watson for her years of service to the club in numerous capacities.

The new slate of officers was approved. Maria Siskind will take over the email list as Vice-President, and we will run the 2017 program with each of the 4 members of the program committee being responsible for 2 events. Elaine, Dianne, Linda and Joan will each run the club meeting at the event which they are coordinating, and we will see how this works out.

Respectfully submitted, Joan Wright, Recording Secretary
